Marcus

Marcus started the month by cutting down a Christmas tree with Damian, he picked a tree with a lot of character (a trunk like a bow). New York is a dream come true for Marcus, lots of really good food, lots of places to see, subway rides, and hotel TV. It was really cool to head to "Ellis Island" after Marcus had recently done a project on the place at school. The trip to Tennessee showed that Marcus does have a temperature limit, when he would ask to go back to the car because "it's just way too cold". Other than the cold, the trip was great, Marcus hiked like a champ and enjoyed Gatlinburg a lot. I think that Marcus was generally happy with what he got for Christmas (except for the clothes). A highlight for Marcus this month was ice skating in Gatlinburg with Nien.

Sophie

Sophie had a full December, she managed to drop time in her swim meets. School seems to have been fun this month. Sophie really enjoyed her Christmas presents, and even did a dance with her new clothes on. A huge highlight for Sophie this month was shopping, and sightseeing. She loved doing window shopping in New York City, and also really enjoyed the shops in Gatlinburg (which has the feel of a beach town). Sophie was a trooper on our hikes thin month and although she didn't seem to enjoy them she kept moving. Sophie's highlight of the month was playing games in the "Well Played" game restaurant on Christmas Day.
