A big birthday this month for Marcus who is now 11 years old. Mrs. Wu came to visit us for Marcus' birthday and helped us to celebrate with wonderful food and a great cake. School has been going well for Marcus and he seems to have settled into his 5^th grade class really well. Soccer has been moving forward and although his team hasn't been winning many games the boys have been working really hard and learning lots. This Month Marcus got to spend a lot of time with his very good friend Ryan who is moving to Seattle in November, it was a good opportunity for Marcus and Ryan and they seemed to enjoy every minute. Less candy for Marcus at Halloween this year; generally their seemed to be less kids out in our neighborhood this year. The rope course at Harpers Ferry was a big highlight for Marcus and he is really in his element high in the trees, working out how to solve the obstacles.

Sophie

Sophie had a fun month, being spoiled by Grandma, running around the soccer field, and spending time with friends. Walking in the park with Mrs. Wu was a highlight for our girl, as was showing us her creative side while carving pumpkins for Halloween. Sophie dressed for Halloween as a Mummy-Bunny and got a lot of candy (to hide in her room from her parents). School has been going great despite a few frustrating new areas of mathematics that she has struggled with. Chinese school has also been going well for Sophie. Swimming it a strength for Sophie and her stroke and endurance are both getting better with her new team.
