Marcus
Age
8 Years
Weight
64.6 lb
Height
4′ 4″
The biggest thing about this October for Marcus was his 8th birthday; he celebrated with his class at school, with his family at a Japanese steak house, and at Rebounderz (essentially a trampoline arena) with some friends. He received way too many presents and had a blast eating nice food and hanging out with his friends to celebrate his special day. He did a great job helping to make a wooden puzzle as part of his party goody bag, and explaining to his friends how to solve it. Marcus had a really fun time selecting his pumpkin this year and did well with the carving later in the month. The Spooky Sprint 2 mile run was a challenge for Marcus, but he managed to run most of the way and ran it in a good time too. Marcus was very brave when we visited the Bradley Farm haunted house for the night show (most scary), and he was a good leader on Halloween night showing other kids the best way to get sweets from our neighborhood :)
Sophie
Age
6 Years 5 Months
Weight
48.2 lb
Height
3′ 11″
Early in the month we had a chance on a day off from school to head down to Washington DC, we visited the some Memorials, the American History Museum where we saw the Star Spangled Banner, and then to the Natural History Museum. Sophie had a fun day in the city and enjoyed the museums (but not the walking).
Sophie has been putting a lot of practice this month into her monkey bar skills, currently she holds the title of the best at the monkey bars of anyone in our family, and this has also helped her tree climbing abilities.
School has been going great although waking Sophie in the cold mornings for school can be a challenge. She has been great at doing her homework and seems to be good at taking part in class. A highlight for Sophie this month has been pumpkin picking with her very good friend Emi, they had a blast searching for the two perfect twin pumpkins. Carving the pumpkin later in the month was also a way for Sophie to show us some of her creative nature.
This month Sophie ran with Nien in the Spooky Sprint 2 mile run, she tried really hard and did great to finish the race strong. The run was a great way to get geared up for Halloween. For Halloween Sophie (and all of us) dressed as a mime, and managed to collect WAY too many sweets from the neighborhood, but had a great time.
