Marcus started May with a school field trip to the National Zoo, it was a rushed visit but the kids had a blast wondering around and seeing all of the animals. At Sophie's party Marcus was a huge help and also managed to have a really good time. The role of our little helper continued a little later in the month when Marcus helped to clean the porch with that popular child's toy, the pressure washer. Marcus got back into swim team like a natural this month and has really been enjoying the time spent in the pool. This also gives him a chance to enter the pool as a veteran swimmer when only last year he was in the learner group. School has been going well and although he is often resistant to homework he seems to enjoy his days in the classroom. This month for the very first time Marcus has been actively reading for pure pleasure, and not only when he is asked to read, this is very exciting for us to witness.

May holds a special place in Sophie's heart, on the 5^th we celebrated her birthday with an exciting party at ideaventions. Most of Sophie's friends showed up and they all seemed to have an absolute blast with the science experiments that they got to participate in. Instead of gifts we did a book exchange and all kids seemed happy with what they got i.e. no boys were sent home with princess books. On the 10^th we celebrated her birthday at home where she opened her presents. With the scorching heat this month there has been a lot of time playing with friends outside and Sophie has been on lots of play date adventures with her friends. School has increased in the level of fun as the end of the year gets closer and our little student has been doing great in class. Swim team started at the end of the month and Sophie has been doing great in her swims despite not always wanting to get into the cold pool. Dancing has been hotting up with lots of practice for the June performance.
