Marcus
Age7 Years 3 Months
Weight59.6 lb
Height4′ 2″
After our fun time in England at the end of 2011, Marcus jumped back into home life quickly. Upon arrival at home we discovered that Santa had put some presents under our tree and Marcus got a cool helicopter that he has enjoyed flying a lot. Early in the month we started Marcus's pinewood derby car for the Cub Scouts, he chose a sleek design and after some cutting a sanding we had the basic shape down. There was a lot of work that Damian completed, but the driving was left to Marcus, which he loved. We didn't make the race day (which was changed due to snow) but on practice day Marcus had a blast racing his car against the other kids. Easing back into school went pretty smoothly and Marcus is really enjoying Mrs. McHale's class, and he is moving in the right direction in all of his school subjects. At the end of the month we got to spend some time with a group of friends at Deep Creek in MD where Marcus tried out a few new activities, snow tubing and skiing, both of which he seemed to have loved and wants to do again. Mid month we headed to the zoo, which was really nice because we haven't been there in quite some time, it was a chilly day, but Marcus managed to walk for a long time even after the disappointment of the hot chocolate cafe being closed.
Sophie
Age5 Years 8 Months
Weight44.2 lb
Height3′ 9″
Sophie had a fun month, she was a really great little lady to take to England and she had a really fun time and played really well with all of the friends and family that she met. On arrival back home we had a few relaxing days of readjustment and then we were all back in the swing of things. Sophie found a gift from Santa under the tree and not long after got more Christmas gifts from Lucy & Lewis, what a great time of year to be a kid. Back to school was a chance for Sophie to share Christmas experiences with all of her classmates. School in January has continued to go well for Sophie and she is still slowly coming out of her shell as the year goes by. Mid month Sophie tested for and got her Yellow belt at Tae Kwon Do, although it has been getting harder and harder to motivate both kids to get to classes, and this may soon end. Sophie didn't even pretend to make the pinewood derby 'pencil' car that she raced on Cub Scout practice night, but she did have a great deal of fun racing with the crowd of other racers. This month Sophie was initiated into the Daisies with a ceremony that culminated in cupcakes and cookies. Heading to Deep Creek at the end of the month gave Sophie the chance to spend some real quality time with some of her best girl friends, she had a blast and did really well in the outdoor activities, hiking, skiing, skating, and riding the mountain coaster with Nien.

Dorothy Henshall
8th October 1922 - 16th January 2012
This month we said goodbye to Damian's grandmother Dorothy who passed away peacefully at the age of 89. We were very lucky to have gotten to spend time with her at Christmas and we are already missing her.
