Marcus lost another tooth this month, so now his mouth looks like a scary Halloween pumpkin every time he smiles. He is happy to be making a tidy profit from the tooth fairy ($1 per tooth) and is in good company because most of his friends are in the same position. Marcus started 1st grade at school this month and seems to be settling in nicely. We have been working more on his reading and he seems to be improving a lot with each booth that we read. Marcus was very proud to run home the last bit of the Reston Triathlon with Nien, but waiting for her to ride by was a little boring for him. This month saw him joining boy scouts and so far (2 meetings in) he seems to enjoy it; I guess time will tell what he will get from it.

Sophie

Our budding little artist and super-reader Sophie has had a really exciting month, she started Kindergarten on the 6th and seems to be doing really well and fitting in with the class. Her work has been good and she especially likes the artwork that she gets to produce, so much so that we signed her up for an art class. Chinese school also begun again this month and although she has been reluctant to go, she seems to have fun while there and is doing well. Soccer season started this month and although the first game was rained off, we managed to play a few games and Sophie has been playing hard for Coach Mom. We have noticed some laziness around the house from our little princess when it comes to her chores and she will often expend a lot more effort trying to avoid tidying up, than it would take to do the work. On the whole Sophie has had a great month and we are very happy with what she is doing.
