Marcus

Marcus took part in a reading camp this Month, and because it was only a half day camp we put him into chess camp for the afternoons. We had thought this combination would be the most un-Marcus of days and were the most worried about this time of the summer for Marcus. I guess that you can't always guess what people will like because at the end of the camp Marcus was very upset and didn't want to leave his favorite camp days. Dutch wonderland was a rare highlight this month for Marcus and he had a blast going on all the rides that he now knows by heart.

Sophie

Sophie has had a few challenges this month, a couple of times she was at a YMCA camp by herself (without her more outgoing big brother), but managed to survive the week. Early in the month we went kayaking and then floating down the Shenandoah River which although we had thought Sophie would hate, she had a blast and couldn't stop smiling. On the 13^th Sophie tested for and passed her Black (stripe) belt in Tae Kwon Do. Later in the month Sophie went to Disney World, which is how she refers to Dutch Wonderland, I guess that we should be happy that she thinks this way, much cheaper that way. Sophie loved our weekend camping and having fun at 'Disney World', but I think that the highlight may have been seeing the 'real' princess walking around. This month Sophie lost her first tooth and was visited by the tooth fairy, who bestowed upon her a dollar coin.
