December brought us cold temperatures and lots of snow, this made playing outside great fun for short periods, but sent us into the house for a lot of the time. The buildup and arrival of Christmas was very exciting for all of us. Not long into Christmas day we begun our journey to California to visit with Holmes and Nien-Chien (Niens sister), the trip was great fun although we did spend a little too much time in the car for the kids liking (nothing new there)

Marcus
Age5 Years 2 Months
Weight48.2 lb
Height3′ 9″
Marcus has had a great month playing in the snow and doing some fun things inside the house while the weather outside has been very cold. Reading has been improving and one of Marcus's favorite things has been to read books (very simple books) to us. The trip to the dentist let us know that Marcus has teeth closer to Dads (weak) than Moms (indestructible). Marcus did great in his Chinese test at school when he had to stand up in front of the class an recite some things about himself. Christmas day was a great highlight for Marcus; he was really looking forward to seeing what he had got from Santa and was very eager to show Sophie what he got for her. Heading to California on Christmas day was very exciting for our little traveler and he did a great job of being super behaved on the flight. San Diego and Sequoia were fun times and it gave Marcus a chance to try out his new snow shoes from Santa.
Sophie
Age3 Years 7 Months
Weight36.4 lb
Height3′ 3″
Sophie had a super fun month, lots of snow play and lots of time dressing up in our warm home. Christmas day was a very exciting time for Sophie for two reasons, firstly that she got to open the gifts that had accumulated under our tree, and secondly because she got to see one of her favorite people, aunty Nien-Chien. Sophie was very excited for both of these reasons. In California Sophie showed us her strong legs and determination by walking all of the way on many hikes through the snow, she enjoyed hugging trees and sliding on the icy paths.
