September 2009>

August has been a truly fun packed month for us; we have spent a lot of time at the farm which is pretty much par for the course this year. Once again swimming and cycling skills have played a big part in our spare time and it's been a lot of fun watching the kids improve in these areas. Later in the month we were visited by Damian's sister Saskia and her family. Damian's running has stayed consistent and hopefully enough to make it through the half marathon in early September.

Marcus
Age4 Years 10 Months
Weight45.8 lb
Height3′ 7″
Marcus has really enjoyed this month in so many ways, his schools skills are improving, especially his numbers and this makes him happy and us proud. He now needs to wait for us when he rides his bike while we run, usually we find him waiting and asking us to hurry up. Swimming has been improved with the masses of time that Nien has spent at the pool with the kids, and we all really love spending time there together. Camping with Sonali, Aamir and Zoya was another highlight in Marcus' month, and I think that he especially enjoyed fishing for crabs. Later in the month Marcus got to show us his fearlessness at Dutch Wonderland on all of the fast and furious rides that he wanted to go on again and again. When Joshua & Ethan arrived Marcus was ready to share his house and show them some of the fun things that he had been learning. During the second trip of the month to Pennsylvania and Dutch Wonderland Marcus again loved the rides and especially liked sleeping in a train
Sophie
Age3 Years 3 Months
Weight34.8 lb
Height3′ 2″
Sophie's month has been one of mass enjoyment, but the joy has come with a price. Sleep has been this month's problem and the only bad role played this month has been the wide awake girl at 10pm. Dance class has been a constant this month and a Sophie in a pink dress is a happy Sophie indeed, We're not sure that she has any future in dance but she enjoys it, and that's enough for us. Maybe it's the small hands but Sophie seems very adept in the picking of blackberries, although not many of the fruit ever makes it to the basket. Highlights for Sophie this month, playing with Zoya (a good role model), holding onto Dad while she goes on the scary rides at Dutch Wonderland, playing in the pool, and sleeping in a train.
Joshua
Age5 Years 8 Months
Weight41.6 lb
Height3′ 7″
Joshua and Ethan spent their summer holidays away from school, doing various activities: one week at Lighthouse summer Camp together, 4 days football training for Josh as well as one day's goalkeeping. We then all went to France for a day trip to buy some wine & cider, including a few hours on the beach in glorious sunshine. Following these joyful days was chicken-pox for both boys (at least we've got it out of the way). Whilst still spotty (but not contagious), we all went to Devon for a long weekend to see Steve's dad, with another glorious beach trip. That same week, we all flew to the US to see Uncle Damian, Aunt Nien-Chie and cousins Marcus & Sophie for a long stay and various trips away, including a weekend in Pennsylvania in Amish country and a few days in Virginia Beach, where Steve and Damian were doing the Rock-and- Roll half-marathon.
