December 2008

December started cold and ended very warm for our family. The kids helped to find and chop down a Christmas tree and decorated it in our front room. Damian continued (with some success) his search for the perfect career. Nien managed to do what we have been striving for since we moved house, she managed to get two cars in the garage. On Christmas eve we headed to warm (and rainy as it turned out) San Diego to visit Nien-Chien (Niens sister) and Holmes (Nien-Chien's husband). We had a lot of fun and doing much of the now usual San Diego things and also managed to go camping for a few days in Death Valley, which although hot during the day, got down to a chilly 29F during the night.

Marcus

Marcus once again got to say hello to one of his favorite friends this month, Shamu the killer whale, Marcus had a really great time getting splashed by Shamu and his friends. A first this year for Marcus was being able to go on many of the rides at Sea World, He has happily reached the 42" height restriction and now heads for the white knuckle rides with some trepidation. Camping in Death Valley was a lot of fun for Marcus and although he was very excited he managed to sleep really well, maybe the fact that we had 4 of us snuggled into our 3 person tent helped him sleep.

Our little princess got to spend time with some of her biggest admirers this month, Aunt Nien-Chien, Uncle Holmes and Grandmother Mrs. Wu all tried to spoil her despite the strange looks from her parents. Sophie enjoyed opening Christmas presents this month and being the center of attention in San Diego. Sophie did great walking on some of the short hikes that we took and didn't complain once that we didn't bother to bring her stroller to California.
