November 2007

After our busy and fun filled October, November has felt quite leisurely and relaxed. The temperature has been turned down somewhat and the scenery has become a little more bare. We have cleared the leaves from the yard a few times only to find that there are more falling the next day, if it wasn't such a fun thing to do then I don't think that we would bother. Damian celebrated (quietly) his 35th birthday this month and spent a nice day with family at the farm and cutting down a Christmas tree for the house. We spent Thanksgiving with friends (Jerry, Alison, Kirsty, & Aiden) and had a really nice time.

Terrible three's - Maybe it's the weather, returning from vacation, or moving classes at school. But whatever the reason, we have seen less of the delightful, friendly boy that we know this month and more of the whining crying monster who doesn't listen to us. We feel that we are at a parenting crossroads, and that we need to be very careful how to proceed with Marcus's attitude. We have searched the whole house but we can't seem to find the manual that came with him.

Sophie has spent November practicing her phrases and giving orders to the rest of us. At thanksgiving we went around the table and listed the things that we were thankful for, Sophie's one word answer summed up the current stage of her life - "Myself". Feeding herself is getting less messy (she's eating like on a growth spurt) and her "climbing on things" skills are improving with every parent scaring climb.
