Visitors from a far away
With Damian's trip to LA on the 7th, we managed to retain the services of an experienced Grand Mother to help out with the kids. Nien's Mom came out from Chicago to visit and cleaned the yard, the house, cooked food, and helped with Marcus and Sophie.
Damian's sister Saskia and her family (husband Steve, and sons Joshua 3, and Ethan 1) came to visit us late in August. We all enjoyed some fun in the sun before the rains from hurricane Ernesto came and drove us to indoor pursuits. We did manage to get some time in the Amish area of Lancaster county PA and spend some time at the beach.

Go to sleep little boy - Marcus has in August continued his experiments in parent sleep deprivation. Things were going quite well with consistent improvement until the 7th when Damian took a business trip to LA. When Damian came back Marcus was a changed sleeper, and a few nights of taking 4+ hours to get him to sleep told us that we needed a new approach. The new approach took the form of a child gate at his door and the instigation of the Ferber method. As of the end of the month things are going very well, despite the upheaval of other children in Marcus's house.

Sophie

Sophie sits poised to roll, which is making Damian & Nien a little nervous about leaving her alone on the sofa and other base jumping locations. She enjoys being outside in the sun where it's warm, but has a tendency to fall asleep. Sophie has been sitting (supported) quite a lot and seems to like this new way of seeing much more of her world.
